B.S. in Computer Science Suggested Course Schedules
Latest news (7/19/2007): A new
daytime Loop section of MAT150 is now added for Fall 2007. It meets TTh
11:50-1:20pm.
Please note the following important
points:
- The intro programming sequence (CSC241/CSC242) should be taken by
CS majors in the freshman year, i.e. as soon as possible. (The sequence
will be offered in fall/winter and winter/spring quarters in AY
2007/2008.) Incoming freshmen must
make sure to take
CSC241 by the winter quarter; otherwise they will
need to wait a full year to start their programming sequence.
- MAT130 is a prerequisite for CSC241. Students who place
into MAT130 must take MAT130 in the fall so that they can start the
programming sequence in the winter.
- If a student comes with AP (Advanced Placement) or IB
(International Baccalaureate) credit, the student should continue the
Java
intro sequence as described in http://sr.depaul.edu/credit.shtml.
- Even though CSC373 has a low prerequisite (CSC211, for example),
it should not be taken by an undergraduate student until he/she has
matured as a programmer. An undergraduate student will obtain the
maximum benefit from the CSC373/374 sequence in their junior year and
after taking CSC383 and CSC309.
The following are several suggested programs of study:
- Suggested program for a freshman
placing into ENG 103 and MAT 130
- Suggested program for a freshman
